Nurdan KARASU GOKCE SHOWS HER WORK AT FLORENCE BİENNALE 2009


Nurdan KARASU GOKCE is invited to exhibite her work at Florence Biennale 2009 by the organization comittee. The Artists selected by the International Scientific Committee or by Important Cultural Entities after approval of the Internal Committee.

Artist concerned with the presence of light, sense of color and feel of the space leaving the viewer with the sense of presence rather than the image. In the basis of creating spiritual and meditational spaces, she is concerned with the viewer’s perception that slips into a different perceptual state in front of the work.

Exhibition will take place at the The Fortezza da Basso. A beautiful Renaissance fortress, that evokes the splendid time period when the Medici family were governors, is the ideal place to host this prestigious event.
Built in 1534 by Antonio da Sangallo, it is now the most important exhibition centre in the city of Florence, just a few steps away from the city centre.

The Biennale is held in the Spadolini Hall, built in 1970 by the architect of the same name, covering a total surface area of 11,000m² and with areas dedicated to collateral events, performances and conferences.

The Fortress has two large entrances (entrance to the Biennial is through Porta Faenza), in the new Piazza Bambini di Beslan, and a large car park in Piazza Caduti nei Lager. Furthermore, it is very easily reacheable by walk from the city centre and from the S.M. Novella station and by car from the main highways exits.

Art Gallery, one of the biggest Chinese Art magazines, has dedicated an article to the seventh edition of the Florence Biennale.

Marina Abramovic will attend the Florence Biennale 2009 to receive the career award on the 8th of December, when she will also offer a conference about her work.

The Chinese artist Shu Yong also will attend the Florence Biennale 2009 to receive the career award and to present his series of paintings about the Chinese Myths.
